Indonesia to be crowned 'Country of Honour' at the French tourism fair IFTM Top Resa

Indonesia has been named the Country of Honour for the 40th IFTM Top Resa tourism trade fair that runs Sept. 23 to 25 at Porte de Versailles in Paris, France.

Wonderful Indonesia will have a stand in the zone dedicated to Asia and will share its exhibition area with partners including regional tourist offices, hotels, travel agencies, tour operators and DMCs.  Tourism marketing deputy Nia Niscaya at the Tourism Ministrytold Antara on Thursday that Indonesiais expected to promote local tourist destinations such as Lombok at the event.  The ministry planned to invite21 local touristcompanies to the trade fairin collaborationwith the Indonesian Embassy in Paris and the French branch of theIndonesia Tourism Office (VITO).  The country plansto present dance performances and a cultural carnival as well as a henna painting artist. It is also to feature abarista and mixologist at its booth to create asignatureIndonesian coffee beverage and traditional drinks.  "Other than media exposure to attract European people, hopefully our participation at the event's business meeting will initiate business cooperationto increase tourist visits from France to Indonesia," said Nia.  The ministry has also prepared several special programs through cooperationwith airlines and tour wholesalers, including a packagedeal that bundles international flights and domestic travel.  Indonesia welcomed250,921 French touristsin 2016, a19.79 percent year-on-year (yoy)increase, and168,989 French tourists in 2017.  This year, the government has targeted at least 290,000 French tourists, with113,996 French nationals visiting the archipelago throughJune, ora 4.02 percent yoy increase.  Tourist visits fromEurope haveseen a positive trend in the last few years. Indonesia country of honour has a partial slice of the biggest tourismmarkets in Europeinclude France, Germany, the Netherlands, Russia and the United Kingdom.  The tourism value of these markets reportedly amounts to more than US$1 million in daily spending overtwo weeks.
