MotoGP circuit in Mandalika SEZ: land clearing has already taken place

The minister for Maritime Affairs has symbolically paid Rp2.8 billion to clear 63,019 SQM of land for the building of the MotoGP Circuit in Mandalika SEZ, Special Economic Zone, Lombok.

Land clearing got completed at the end of April, as such, the Indonesia Tourism Development Corp. (ITDC) can now develop the MotoGP circuit in Mandalika SEZ Lombok which will be built by a French firm.

The circuit will have a capacity of 50,000 spectators and is expected to complete by 2019. It will be the first ever MotoGP street circuit, that offers a beautiful panorama of a lagoon, solar photovoltaic farm, golf courses, commercial areas, and urban areas, as well as the Indian Ocean.

This assurance came during a meeting of President Joko Widodo and French President Francois Hollande who witnessed a cooperation agreement with state-owned ITDC France’s Vinci Construction Grande projects on integrated tourism development Mandalika SEZ with an investment of Rp 6 trillion some time ago.

The signing of the memorandum of understanding, he said, will be followed by the development of design in the next few months as well as planning to organize a World Championship Racing ‘Grand Prix Mandalika’ in 2019.
