After completing the initial pre-season testing in Sepang, Malaysia, the MotoGP Official Test or pre-season test for the MotoGP Championship will take place at the International Mandalika Circuit next week on the 11th – 13th February 2022. Over 24 racers from 12 MotoGP teams have assured that they are ready for their practice run at the Mandalika Circuit.

President Director of MGPA, Priandhi Satria said that “This assurance was obtained from the International Road Racing Team Association (IRTA).”

Among the 24 racers who are confirmed to be attending are some of the top names known in the MotoGP Championship. These include the 2021 MotoGP champion, Fabio Quartararo from Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP, Marc Marquez from Repsol Honda Team Francesco Bagnaia, and Jack Miller from the Ducati Lenovo Team.

Then Joan Mir from Team Suzuki Ecstar, Johann Zarco from Pramac Racing, and Brad Binder from Red Bull KTM Factory Racing. These were the top seven riders with the highest points during the 2021 MotoGP season.

The MotoGP Official Test at the Mandalika Circuit consists of three days of testing and practice sessions. All racers will take part in the MotoGP Official Test, which is scheduled to start at 10:00 – 17:45 Central Indonesia Time for the test session, followed by a practice session for 15 minutes, ending the day at 18:00 Central Indonesia Time.

"We are very enthusiastic in welcoming the 24 racers who will try the Mandalika Circuit track on 11-13 February. Especially, as there are the best names of MotoGP racers among the 24 racers who were present. As we all know, the majority of Indonesian people are motorcycle lovers, so this MotoGP Official Test is the moment we have been waiting for." Priandhi said.

The Mandalika Circuit is a brand new circuit which MotoGP racers will not be familiar with. So this Official Test is very important for them and their team crews to learn the characteristics of this circuit before the race at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit in March.

Priandhi Satria said “I am hoping that all racers and team crews maximize this Official Test and get the best experience at the Mandalika Circuit.” He also explained, “during the official test, all racers with crews will follow the Travel Bubble scheme, which means they will do an activity in a limited area within a specified duration of time.”

This Travel Bubble scheme has also been coordinated by the Indonesian government through the Ministry of Health, and the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Team will be monitoring closely. All racers and team crews will take a PCR test twice, 24 hours before to determine whether the activities in the Circuit’s area will go ahead or not.

“We are trying to continue this activity properly without violating the provisions that have been regulated by the Indonesian government to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our country. We hope that everything will run smoothly and we will be ready to hold the MotoGP race in March 2022," Priandhi concluded.
