Growing People Economy, Tourism Minister Empowers MSMEs in Mandalika

Minister of Tourism Arief Yahya hopes PT Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) as the state-owned enterprise (SOE) that manages the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ) becomes the central coordination that aims at developing Micro Small Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Minister of Tourism Arief Yahya hopes PT Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) as the state-owned enterprise (SOE) that manages the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ) becomes the central coordination that aims at developing Micro Small Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).  This was conveyed by Minister Arief during a working visit last weekend to review the development in the SEZ of Mandalika, Lombok, which is one of 10 Priority Destinations.  Minister Arief asked MSMEs in Mandalika SEZ to be empowered, one of them is by giving them capital, to support Mandalika to become world-class destination. "We expect the economic growth of people in the tourism area will grow faster and grow," said Minister Arief, in a press release on Sunday (7/8/2018).  In addition to reviewing MSME kiosks in Mandalika, the Tourism Minister is also committed to facilitate traders to obtain capitals through the Small Loans specialized for tourism sector from a number of state-owned banks. This business area of MSMEs will be named The Mandalika Bazaar which sells various MSME products as a form of social responsibility towards the surrounding community in particular.  This visit is a continuation of previous work visit on November 17, 2017 when the Tourism Minister reviewed development of ITDC MSMEs on the direction of the President Joko Widodo for tourism destinations to have facilities to accommodate proper and qualified MSMEs.
