The air traffic to Ngurah Rai Bali Airport is increasingly congested. Recently, Hong Kong Airlines resumed its Hong Kong - Denpasar - Hong Kong route for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic subsided. The General Manager of Ngurah Rai International Airport, Handy Heryudhitiawan, said that this route was previously only served by Cathay Pacific airline.

“Inaugurating this flight from Hong Kong Airlines will certainly further strengthen connectivity between Hong Kong and Bali," said Handy Heryudhitiawan. On its maiden flight, Hong Kong Airlines passengers were welcomed with a Water Salute ceremony and flower garlands upon arrival at Bali airport. The Hong Kong Airlines flight with the flight number CRK707 landed in Bali with 146 passengers from Hong Kong.

The Airbus A333 aircraft immediately flew back to Hong Kong with 281 passengers. Currently, they are still waiting for new route applications from several airlines that are being discussed with related parties.

"We hope that by the end of this year, international flight routes can return to a period close to before the Covid-19 pandemic," said Handy Heryudhitiawan.

Previously, China Eastern Airlines, a Chinese airline, had also resumed its Shanghai-Denpasar-Shanghai flight route for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic. Ngurah Rai Airport currently serves five routes to China, three of which are to mainland China, namely Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Xiamen, as well as Hong Kong and Taipei. Overall, Ngurah Rai Airport has served 28 scheduled international flight routes connecting Bali Island with various countries, serviced by 34 airlines. "We hope that the opening of additional routes to and from Hong Kong will have a positive impact on Bali Island tourism," said Handy Heryudhitiawan.
