Indonesia Minister of Tourism Arief Yahya targets sport tourism in Indonesia to attract 250,000 foreign tourists this year.  This was stated by Minister Arief when opening the Wonderful Indonesia Golf Tournament (WIGT) with a smoke ball shotgun at Royale Golf Halim Perdanakusuma, not long ago.  "As projected by Tourism Ministry, sport tourism in Indonesia will contribute 1.25 percent of 20 million foreign tourists or about 250 thousand foreign tourists, with foreign exchange proceeds of USD250 million," said Minister Arief.  According to Minister Arief, on average people travel 65 percent because of aspects of culture, 35 percent because of the aspect of natural beauty and five percent of man-made products in which including sport tourism. "Golf is part of sport tourism that is quite effective to attract foreign tourists, its growth reaches 10 percent per year," said Minister Arief.  Arief explained golf as a sport tourism is based on four elements of 4P (Product, Promotion, Price, Place). "For Indonesia, the product is good, the price competitiveness is the best, the place is also very good. Especially with the proof from Travel+Leisure which states Java, Bali, Lombok as The Best Islands in the World. For golf sport tourism, promotion aspects that need to be maximized are by favoring the existing 3P aspects," said he again.  This year's WIGT features the theme "Indonesian Mountain and Highland Tourism". According to the Chief Organizer Bagus Kartika, golf as a recreational sport has a strong power in attracting tourists.  "There is an international golf course that appeals to golfers to play and compete in Indonesia, with beautiful mountain scenery," Bagus said.  WIGT will be held in three categories, namely A, B, and C Ladies Flight. WIGT 2018 also promotes a number of mountain and highland tourism destinations, including Mount Bromo and Crater Ijen in East Java, Lake Toba and Bukittinggi (three large valleys) in West Sumatra, Lake Kalimutu in East Nusa Tenggara, Mount Merapi in Yogyakarta and a number of other interesting tourist destinations.  "We hope this activity will inspire the actors of the tourism industry, especially in creating a similar package of golf tour to increase the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia," said Bagus, in a press release on Wednesday.
