A Vision for a Cleaner Tomorrow

NTB's commitment to sustainable waste management is now materializing through the establishment of four innovative waste processing plants. Spearheading this endeavor is the Head of the NTB Environment and Forestry Service (LHK), Julmansyah, who emphasizes the significance of these factories in tackling the growing waste problem in the province.

A Multifaceted Approach to Waste Management

The four garbage factories encompass diverse solutions to address distinct waste challenges. The block solutions factory, situated in the BRIDA NTB Office area, stands as a testament to sustainable practices, as it ingeniously transforms plastic waste into bricks, processing up to 9 tons of plastic daily. Meanwhile, the Lingsar TPST hosts the BSF organic waste processing plant, contributing significantly to eco-friendly waste management.

Pioneering RDF Factory to the Rescue

One of the most revolutionary additions to NTB's waste management arsenal is the RDF (refuse-derived fuel) factory at the Kebon Kongok Regional TPA, a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) and the NTB government. The factory, sprawling across 60 acres, is poised to process an astounding 120 tons of waste daily, a significant stride towards tackling waste on a grand scale. The operations of the RDF factory are expected to yield approximately 15 to 20 tons of RDF each day, a valuable resource with a multitude of applications.

Advancing Sustainable Partnerships

The NTB provincial government's commitment to efficient waste management extends beyond the construction of these groundbreaking factories. They have embraced a forward-thinking approach by involving the private sector in the factories' operations. A memorandum of understanding has already been inked with a company, and a comprehensive feasibility study is underway for the prospective TPST management company. This symbiotic collaboration not only enhances production efficiency but also promotes the sustainable utilization of the factories' products.

Embracing the Path to a Cleaner Future

NTB's tireless efforts in waste management have not gone unnoticed. With the waste factories already operational, except for the RDF factory which is on the brink of commencing its operations, the province has already achieved a remarkable 12.81 percent reduction in waste, significantly closer to its annual target. These endeavors align perfectly with Pergub Number 14 of 2020, which outlines regional policies and strategies for waste management, solidifying NTB's commitment to becoming a frontrunner in eco-friendly practices.

A Shining Model for Waste Management

As the RDF factory prepares for its grand debut in August, the landscape of waste management in NTB is on the brink of transformation. The provincial government's vision, combined with private sector partnerships, sets a precedent for other regions in Indonesia to follow. By turning waste into a valuable resource and fostering sustainable practices, NTB is paving the way for a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable tomorrow.
